Introduction / Planes are Cool

I wrote this first part about 24 hours ago now while desperately hoping I’d be able to fall asleep on the plane.

My name is Laurie Zdenek and I’m writing at 2 am ET on the plane that is taking me to Paris. The cabin is dark and most people around me sleep (I’m jealous). But I realized that it’s probably light outside and despite not having a window seat, I do have a way to check that. The plane has cameras on it that you can access with the viewscreens on the seat in front of you which my friends and I have found enormously silly in our sleep deprived excitement.

I feel like I should share how excited I am for this trip, but honestly that wouldn’t be accurate. The stress of getting to the airport is over, but the excitement for what comes next hasn’t sunk in yet. Right now, I’m just tired.

24 hours later, I’m still tired (heat waves make for excellent sleeping weather) and that I’m going to be living in Paris for the next month still seems unreal. I find myself more concerned about where I’m going to find a fan than that I’m going to the Louvre this afternoon.

Until next time,

Laurie
